Of the Sea, and of This Place

Otium belongs to the waters she travels. She was shaped by Indonesia — by its boatbuilding traditions, its landscapes, and the rhythm of life between islands.

Her character is quiet and confident, grounded in craftsmanship and shaped by experience rather than display. Otium matters to us because she feels rooted — not imposed — and because she moves through these places with respect and ease.

She is not simply a yacht in Indonesia, but a yacht of Indonesia.

The Vessel

Otium, at First Sight

Otium is a 48-metre private phinisi yacht created for long, unhurried journeys through Indonesia's most remote regions — from Komodo and Alor to Raja Ampat and the historic Spice Islands. Six suites, twelve guests. Sail as a full Private Charter or a suite on our fixed-date Signature Voyage.

The Heart Behind Otium's Building

Marc Christoffel is the heart behind Otium's creation, working closely with his boatbuilding team in Bira, South Sulawesi. What began as sketches on paper has grown into a journey shaped by vision, precision, and passion. From the very first line drawn, Marc imagined more than a vessel, he envisioned a yacht that feels like a true home at sea. Every curve, every detail, and every space is guided by this idea of intimacy, warmth, and belonging. On the shipyard floor, Marc works side by side with skilled Indonesian craftsmen, blending traditional phinisi heritage with modern design. It is here, in the rhythm of hammers, saws, and hands shaping wood, that Otium's spirit is being built.

The Comforts of Home

The Interiors of Otium

Every detail of Otium's interior was born from a vision by Fresa Amalia, who imagined a yacht that feels like a second home at sea — warm, refined, and deeply personal. To bring this concept to life, Fresa collaborated with Walter Wagner, the visionary architect behind the award-winning Nihi Sumba. Together, they shaped interiors that balance tropical warmth with modern elegance, ensuring every color, texture, and material blends in harmony. From the expansive suites to the intimate staterooms, Otium's interiors are defined by natural light, handcrafted finishes, and a palette of soft, calming tones. Each space is designed not only to be beautiful, but to invite relaxation, connection, and a quiet sense of belonging.

Before You Sail

Questions, Answered

Everything you need to know before stepping aboard — from planning your voyage to what to expect once you're at sea. If your question isn't here, our team is always a message away.

How is charter pricing structured for Samara Otium?

The Charter Price is USD 14’000 + per night Charter pricing can be custom for each journey and can depends on the chosen region, season, and duration.

Otium comfortably accommodates up to 12 guests, with flexible sleeping arrangements for up to two additional guests when required, including a separate twin bunk cabin suitable for children or entourage.

Cruising conditions vary across Indonesia’s regions. Komodo is typically at its best between April and November, while Raja Ampat is most favourable from October to April. We help guests select the ideal timing based on their preferred itinerary.

Charters typically begin at five to seven nights, which allows for a relaxed introduction to life onboard. Journeys of ten to twelve nights offer a more comfortable pace with deeper exploration, while extended charters of fourteen nights or more allow for truly immersive itineraries across multiple regions.

Otium is equipped with onboard Wi-Fi supported by Starlink, satellite communications, and mobile networks where available. While connectivity is generally reliable for essential communication, coverage may vary in remote regions — offering a natural opportunity to disconnect when desired.

Days unfold at your own pace and are shaped entirely around your interests. Activities may include guided diving or snorkeling — with the possibility of encounters with manta rays or whale sharks — as well as surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, waterskiing, hiking ashore, and cultural exploration. Time can be just as easily spent relaxing onboard: swimming, sunbathing, reading, photography, enjoying a quiet anchorage, or sharing a cocktail as the islands drift by. Beach barbecues and spontaneous moments ashore are part of the rhythm, not a schedule.

Samara Otium is offered exclusively as a private charter and is not limited to fixed routes. While she regularly explores regions such as Komodo, Alor, Raja Ampat, and the Spice Islands, each voyage is designed around the guests’ preferences.

All meals are prepared by an onboard chef, with menus tailored to guest preferences and dietary requirements, drawing inspiration from regional ingredients and complemented by a thoughtful wine and beverage program.

Yes. Otium is well suited to families, offering flexible accommodation, calm shared spaces, and activities that can be adapted for children. The crew is experienced with families and takes genuine care in keeping younger guests engaged, safe, and comfortable throughout the journey — allowing all guests to relax and enjoy their time onboard. As a family ourselves, we understand the importance of balance, attention, and ease when travelling with children.
